Buttoning Down Loscon

Buttoning Down Loscon

Part of the Loscon blood drive has always been buttons.  This goes back to our dealers’ room days with the U.S.S. Alliance when we first got the button maker.  Sometimes I’ve done the artwork when it’s of a more graphic nature.  But when it comes to real artwork, the best I can do is high-resolution stick figures.  This year, our friend in England, Pixel, provided the artwork.  I guess it’s fitting that we met her through My Little Pony fandom.

Next, my IT Department sized it down to fit on a button.

Now I cut them out and whomp them.  We call making the buttons “whomping” because that’s the sound the button maker makes when you press the top and bottom of the buttons together.

This, and making dinner and watching an episode of Star Trek:  Discovery will probably take the rest of the evening.  So back to work.

By the way, we just finished season two of Discovery.  When they flashback to Spock and Michael’s childhood, does anyone else have a problem with there being rainstorms and forests on Vulcan?

And where is Spock’s pet sehlat?  Or has Spock already met his “cousin”?
