Rough Weekend
We were at a retirement party for a friend when we got word that a dear friend of ours, Jennifer Cole, had been taken to the hospital. She suddenly had heart problems; her heart was racing. She has had a 14-year long fight with cancer, more recently her kidneys had been failing, and they found in the hospital she was septic.
Her sister told us that she didn’t have very long, so we went to see her today. It was difficult to see her in that condition. She has lost a lot of weight. She is on pain meds, so she was drifting in and out, but she was able to react, smile and look at us.
It’s still very difficult to process all this, but at least we had a chance to say goodbye. For that, I am grateful.
