Getting Ready to Bleed Them Dry

Getting Ready to Bleed Them Dry

With Loscon about a month away (Thanksgiving weekend), it’s time to start prepping for the Blood Drive.  This weekend, I sent the sign-up information to the Loscon press info.

I also signed up myself.  I’ll be one of the first to donate at 10:00 am.

Next, I had to check my supplies.  For the balloon fish, looks like I’ll need more 16” rounds and water balloons for eyes.

Years ago, balloon fish became a tradition at Loscon blood drives.  Here are some from last year.

We also give buttons with the raffle tickets – and they also weigh down the balloon fish so they don’t float away.  Looks like I’ll need to order some more button parts as well.

Next weekend, I’ll design the poster and flyers.

Time to get busy.

Tried a new dinner roll recipe:

“These rolls take me back to when I was a wee fly buzzing around restaurants discovering my love of the culinary arts.  They remind me of the rolls at Hollander’s Cafeteria in the Stonewood Shopping Center.  Except those rolls were baked so they would pull apart into three sections.  Oh, and they were baked individually in muffin tins – these were made in a cake pan.  Oh, and those were taller.  Actually, they’re not like Hollander’s rolls at all.  Except that they are both bread, hot and go well with butter and honey.  Never mind, they were good, though.” – Vincent Reinheart.
