This is where the convention will be held on Thanksgiving weekend, Friday through Saturday.
The attendance was smaller than usual last year due to the pandemic. This year we still expect it to be a little light, but in some ways that works out for us. We will be losing part of the lobby area due to remodeling and this will continue into February for Gallifrey.
For Kris and I doing the blood drive, we get to have Marque 1 and 2 again. We don’t need all that space, but it’s nice to be able to spread out. And if you plan to donate at the blood drive, you can sign up now online HERE.
Being at a committee meeting, I get to hear some of the plans for the convention. For example, they will be arranging the program rooms by theme. All the literary panels will be in one area, all the entertainment panels in another, etc., so if you have a specific interest, you don’t have to run across the hotel to catch your next panel.
They are experimenting with Information Boards. They hope to have a couple of screens up, at least one at registration. They will show changes to the schedule and answer the most common questions like, where is the Ice Cream Social?
The Droid Builders will be there, showing off their R2D2s and other droids around the convention. They will also have a fan table in the hallway where you can talk to them and ask questions.
The film room will have a travel theme, including the 1902 “Trip to the Moon”. Other films will be, “First Men on the Moon”, Disney’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”, “Master of the World”, “The Great Race”, and “Around the World in 80 Days”.
