Out and About
While it’s been over a week since she left L.A. County Jail Olive View/UCLA County Hospital, Kris has not been getting out since her surgery. She can’t even get out of our apartment complex alone because the fire doors are so heavy and she’s not supposed to lift or push anything over five pounds. But this past Friday she finally made it out.
For anyone who knows her, it won’t be a surprise that her first outing was to a local 7-11 for a Coke Slurpee. For her, it’s like an internal icepack for her diaphragm. This place used to have Mountain Dew Slurpees as well, but not anymore. I used to be able to help her rack up free drinks on her 7-11 app.
Then yesterday she accompanied me to the American Red Cross center in Woodland Hills – and then another Slurpee. This was a bigger outing for her and she did get a bit tired, but she is making progress.
She is also spending time at her computer working on her website clients and her Etsy store is off vacation mode. You can visit it here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheEarsHaveIt
The next step will be to get off the liquid diet and on to soft food – maybe even some solid food. We’ll see what her doctor says on Thursday.
