We joined the Revolution

Until our niece, Annie in Riverside told us about it, we had never heard of Comic Con Revolution https://www.comicconrevolution.com/ontario/?utm_source=CCR+Ont+Attendees&utm_campaign=a36090b444-CCR23-052023&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e3bb3bf536-a36090b444-128066380&mc_cid=a36090b444&mc_eid=196940ccea in Ontario, California.  It was held last weekend, May 20th and 21st.  For a con I had never heard of, in a not-so-major city, it had quite an impressive guest list, including the entire voice cast of “The Last Airbender”, two of the actors from “The Orville” and major voice actor, Billy West.

We went on Saturday to meet Annie, her boyfriend and his daughter.

Even before entering the Ontario Convention Center, there was a display of movie cars:

Once inside, we found the convention to be of a pretty decent size – not quite as big as Gallifrey, but their dealer’s room was a lot bigger and their artist’s alley was about half that size.

The best booth by far was Cats and Comics Rescue, where they were having kitten adoptions.

We also met a big celebrity in the Dealer’s room.

Hmmm…  I wonder where the artist’s alley is?

Or the Cosplay Corner?

There were a lot of cosplayers there.

This woman is a 9”-3” tall character from a video game.  Sorry, I don’t remember which one, I’m not up on my video games.

The con did lean heavily towards anime, but there was a lot there for Star Wars, Dr. Who, Star Trek and other fandoms.

We weren’t able to get into “The Last Airbender” panel, the line was just too long and you had to get a special wristband beforehand, which they ran out of, but we did get to see Scott Grimes (Gordon) and J. Lee (John) from “The Orville”.

We were also able to meet famous writer Timothy Zahn, the author of the Thrawn books in the Star Wars series.  Kris got him to autograph two of his books.  Admiral Thrawn appeared in “Star Wars Rebels” and will be the major villain in the upcoming Disney Plus “Ahsoka” series.

A new feature that started appearing at many conventions is food trucks.  They are even featured as part of the promotion for the convention.  Kris and I have been known to chase down Baby’s Bad Ass Burgers, which we first saw at Gallifrey One.  They weren’t there, but others were.Raw fish parked out in the hot sun.  What could possibly go wrong?

This one has just become our second favorite food truck.  They had a cheese and habanero pizza that has just the right amount of heat and flavor.  I had to go back and compliment their pizza after we ate it.Unfortunately, they only travel around the Inland Empire.

This con was about an hour’s drive from home – which is not bad.  We will definitely be going back next year, especially if it gives us a chance to see our niece again.

“Busy weekend in the Cherry kitchen.  First, Slow Cooker Cajan Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/slow-cooker-cajun-chicken-fettuccine/?fbclid=IwAR2TtNARhPjn6avYqO2Z8I2w0XgWSKGYlMeXkoJ4cQWrtm_HiXXP-s9Wrbc and Cheddar Bay Biscuits https://www.savingdessert.com/cheddar-bay-biscuits/?fbclid=IwAR2_mOj19YNwTmPLLcfU3YsNtmEMJFhbRfexrIyNJ9zHnRGGMFUfQH5_7rAThe Fettuccine Alfredo was magnificent with just the right amount of spice.  Be warned, it does make a lot.  Dennis might half the recipe next time.  And the Biscuits were like the Red Lobster biscuits – but with garlic!  Which is to say, even better!

And this morning’s breakfast was Fluffy Pancakes https://kitchenfunwithmy3sons.com/fluffy-pancakes/?fbclid=IwAR2mTrQb4RHYUtQP9DvDA4aad_q2IuuEqa1DZoObQ58IUpz8zmIBjMnvBcw These were fluffier and tastier that Aunt Jemima’s – sorry, Pearl Mills – pancakes.  They will probably be the new standard pancake in this house – after Dennis finishes the new five-pound box of pancake mix he just bought.” – Vincent Reinhart
