The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith Annie

Oops, I guess I got two of my favorite weddings mixed up.  Mine and Kris’ being my favorite.  Actually, Sarah Jane had a wedding, but didn’t actually get married.  You see the Trickster… and then the Doctor… well, long story.  Oh, and it was officiated by Sarah of Moonbase Alpha.  I guess she made it back… never mind…

This was a beautiful wedding at outdoor venue in Redlands.  This was close to Perris, CA, where we were staying with a friend.  These pictures were taken before the wedding as the photographer was taking some pictures.

It reminded me of when Kris and I got married and our photographer had the idea of getting some pictures of me bring Kris her bouquet before the wedding and my mom and aunt freaked out, “NO!  YOU CAN’T SEE HER BEFORE THE WEDDING!!!”

No one freaked out this time.  In fact, when we arrived, Annie was walking around greeting guests before putting on her dress.  Here she is with Kris on the left and her mom on the right.

The venue asked that we don’t take pictures during the wedding so as not to interfere with the photographer.  But we got a lot of pictures afterwards.  Here are the three ladies again after the wedding.

And this is her family, Her dad Brad, her mother Leslie, her Brother Tom and his girlfriend Laina.  Annie is my height, so you can see they are a tall family.

Annie and Brent are both into cosplay, gaming, painting miniatures, science fiction, Doctor Who (hence, the Sarah Jane reference), anime and other fannish activities.  They took pictures with their swords.

One of my favorite parts of the wedding was when Brent said his vows.  He said Annie was not only the love of his life, but his best friend and he listed a lot of common interests they share and things they enjoy doing together.  That hit home with me because that is how I have always felt about Kris.  She is my best friend and marriage is an eternal sleepover with your best friend.  It made me feel real positive about their marriage.

Leslie described Annie’s bride’s maids as a portrait of the different stages of her life.  Some were her friends in her current career as a dentist, some were her college roommates, and two were her friends since she was four years old.  That’s very rare and wonderful.

We didn’t stay until the end, but I understand the party went on way until 8:00 pm.  Those crazy kids!
