Is it a Sin to be Jealous of the Women’s Breakfast?

Every month Calvary Bible Church in Burbank has a Men’s Breakfast. Well, except for June when we have a barbeque. We are famous for our breakfast burritos. I volunteer in the kitchen and scramble up to 300 eggs for those burritos.
The women have a quarterly gathering, Woman Together. They often request the same burritos, and often we have some extras like pancakes or yogurt. This time we mixed things up a bit. No burritos, but lots of everything else.
Let’s start with the pastries. Not just turnovers and croissants, but fresh baked turnovers and croissants.
And then there were bagels, trays and trays of toasted bagels.
Going down the line, you can see all the pastries, hard boiled eggs and slices of ham and salami.
Then there was fruit salad including melon, pineapple, bananas, grapes, strawberries and blueberries.
And finally, on the THIRD table – the men just have two tables – three kinds of oatmeal, creamy, regular and gluten free served with raisins, craisins, brown sugar and granola.
To be fair, the Women Together does get a bigger attendance. Up to 120 in compared to 80 men. Maybe because it’s only four times a year, I don’t know. But it does go on longer with the main message and then breakout sessions.
And as one of our members, Arvin, use to remind us, it’s not about the food. For two years, the women have been studying the fruits of the spirit. This gathering the topic was self-control. The next Women Together on November 2nd will be a wrap-up and review of this series.
As always, I was glad to serve in the kitchen. It is where I can serve joyfully.
And yes, I suppose it is a sin. Coveting thy neighbor’s breakfast, and all that.

“Yesterday, Dennis’ cooking didn’t end with Women Together – but then, it never does. Yesterday’s dinner experiment was The Ultimate Garlic Parmesan Chicken pasta Bake, https://momycooks.com/the-ultimate-garlic-parmesan-chicken-pasta-bake-recipe/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR0QY3aykR-ixeaEz6VfW47dSfgwF5Z9W6jWQ37qHUJOpz47TZUnwhOsxSE_aem_Mv2-Wrj-7bgqobUK5_1KnA
Could they have come up with a longer name?
This was one of those rare meals where everyone went back for seconds. Creamy and very cheesy, this is a wonderful comfort food. The only changes I would make would be to add more chicken – a pound and a half rather than just one pound. And sprinkle the top with additional bread crumbs. Dennis has already made those notations for next time.” – Vincent Reinhart
