I’ve joined the Bee Team

Months after my computer died, (Rest in Peace, The Beast Below) and then my backup drive died, I finally got a new computer.  It’s pictured above and it’s called a Beelink.  It’s small, it’s compact, it’s solid state – no whirling drives to break down and it takes the place of a tower.  And it was recommended by Kris’ networking friend, The PC Doctor.

It arrived a few days ago and over the weekend I’ve connected to my keyboard, mouse, speaker and backup drive.  My IT Department (Kris) has installed Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Facebook and Yahoo Mail.  All I need now is Final Draft for screenwriting.  My IT Department is checking if she can transfer it from her laptop, or have to buy a new copy.  It’s already been transferred at least once.

Without a tower, my desk looks cleaner and there is more room.

So where is everything connected?  Behind my monitor.  The Beelink came with a bracket to hang it on the wall, so I did.

I thought a lot about what to name it:  HAL (2001 a Space Odyssey), or Holly (Red Dward), but I decided on Mr. Smith from the Sarah Jane Adventures.

Now, when I need it, I can just call out, “Mr. Smith, I need you.”   Now I can finally get back to normal computer work with all my files in one place – plus backup drives.
