Checking Up on Leif Garrett

Checking Up on Leif Garrett

A while back I wrote how we had a plant that Kris rescued.  It had one stem that was dying.  But instead of giving up, it reinvented itself.  That was Leif Garret (So named because he had only one leaf), but today he is thriving with five leaves.

His outdoor partner, Fern, is doing well, also.  Kris cut back his dead branches.  We expect him to burst out in the spring.

Inside, we have a home of happy plants.  Spiney Noman is blooming on three branches.  Before we moved him and put him under the sun lamp, he would only have one bloom every other year or so.

Spidey is almost as tall as Spiney.  We’re now calling her Spidey Mama because she has a runner.

The runner has flowers, but they’re only open in the day and they close up again at night.  Not all of them have opened yet.

Violet was bursting with flowers.  She seems to be taking a break now.  We’ve never had an African Violet that was so prolific.  My mom always used to have African Violets, but hers were never this prolific and she had a green thumb.

Wanderer is wandering all over Kris’ desk.  He makes it hard for her to dust.

And finally, the habanero twins, Gumball and Darwin.  Their twins because they came out of the same habanero.  Gumball is almost as tall as I am.

And he’s got what I think are the beginning of flower buds.  I’m hoping for a big harvest of habaneros this summer.  Darwin is only about half his size.  No buds yet.

All in all, a home full of happy plants.  I guess they like watching the same shows we like.  They must be Trekkers.
