Bleeding With a Friend

Today was a rare conjunction when both me, The AFOL Husband, and the Mad Woman With a Box could give blood. So, we headed on down to the Woodland Hills American Red Cross to do so. We both got appointments at noon.
I was the first up. I’m working on gallon 16.
A few minutes late, she took the chair beside me.
We were both giving whole blood, so we had a race to see who could bleed faster. I was done in six minutes and thirteen seconds. She beat me with five minutes and eight seconds! Here she is celebrating with the blood drive salute.
Hint: The more relaxed you are and the better hydrated you are, the faster your donation.
They were giving away Goodr sunglasses, so we both got a pair. Then we took advantage of their standee for photo ops.
She’ll be the first to tell you she’s a bigger ham than I am anyone.
Our next eligible date to donate is August 30th. If I stay on top of it and donate every 56 days, I can still make six donations by December 27 – before the end of the year.

“Not exactly a new recipe, but one Dennis learned from his church’s men’s barbecue. Barbecued chicken.
Simple enough. Sprinkle both sides of chicken breasts with rub. Dennis used Pappy’s Choice Seasoning, Professional Pack. There are four varieties, and this was the one used in church. Then before putting on the grill, baste with Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory and Brown Sugar Barbeque sauce. Again, several varieties, this is the one we like. Grill until done.” – Vincent Reinhart
