R.I.P. Deep Thought

R.I.P. Deep Thought

Friday, I came home to a big surprise, my computer’s operating system died.  For those of you on a PC, my C drive crashed.  I named my computer Deep Thought after the computer in, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” that was supposed to figure out the meaning of life, the universe and everything.  Obviously, I had big aspirations for my computer.

I’m currently on my wife’s laptop while my IT Department (also my wife) fixes the problem.  It works fine, but I’m not use to it.  The touchpad is a little touchy, it keeps expanding the screen until things fall off the sides and I don’t have access to my files.  That was a problem yesterday when I had a Zoom critique group meeting and I couldn’t access two of the three of the critiques that were up that day.  I had to do my best from memory.  I have yet to email their critiques as well.

But all is not lost.  All my files were on D drive, and that should be intact.  After consulting with a friend or ours, Gene Turnbow, proprietor of SciFi Radio (or as I like to call him, Gene, Gene, the broadcasting machine) we are getting a new solid state C drive that will be stronger, faster, better than my original drive.  In addition, Gene, Gene the broadcasting machine is installing it. And speaking of SciFi Radio Kris is writing four articles for their blog.  Her first article will be on season 2 of Netflix’s “One Piece”, which is excellent, by the way.  We just binged watched the last four episodes last night.

Did I mention how great of a friend Gene Turnbow is?  And I’m enjoying reading his first book, “Juniper Fairchild and the Alterwhere”.  I’m on page 80.

So, by next blog, my computer should be back up and running. With a new brain, maybe I should rename it Frankinthought.

The host and producer of The Gong show, Chuck Barris, has always been an inspiration to me.  There’s a man who loves his job.
