Three, two. One, BOOM!
Gumball and Darwin (our two habanero plants) have been pulling the pins on their flavor bombs (aka Nature’s Taste Grenades). As soon as we harvested the last four…
Five more started ripening. The three in the featured picture, from Gumball, and these two from Darwin.
This has caused us to pull out our habanero recipes, Habanero Mango Chicken Chili, Nachos, both Deluxe with everything and simple with cheese sauce, salsa and bits of habaneros. Our newest experiment was Slow-Cooker habanero Chili. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/100705/slow-cooked-habanero-chili/ I’ll let Vincent take it from here.
“This was good, but not quite there, yet. What was most surprising was that the chili was not that hot. With three habaneros you’d think it would be. I would say they got lost in all the other ingredients. I’d suggest four or even five next time. Kris was also not that impressed with the black-eyed peas, a new ingredient in the Cherry kitchen. That’s more a matter of taste, but next time we’ll try pinto beans. This is a work in progress.” — Vincent Reinhart

Personally, I’m seeing some habanero burgers in my future.
The plants, however, have grown a little out of control. They’re blocking the door to the patio.
Still blocking the door, a bit.

Kris just got a new printer. She was not amused by this notification that came with it. You have to wonder how many people did this to warrant that first warning.
