Roll-Em-Up!

“Well, it looks like I’m being usurped again. Dennis is doing a food review.” – Vincent Reinhart
A lot of restaurants have gone out of business during the pandemic and post-pandemic, so, it’s nice to see a new one open up. Apparently Roll-Em-Up Taquitos is a chain, although I had never heard of them. This one opened up in Porter Ranch in the northwest end of the San Fernando Valley.
It’s in the same shopping center as our Ralph’s, so we’ve been watching it move in and waiting for it to open. Especially Kris. Kris loves taquitos the way I love tamales. I have started making taquitos at home, but not tamales. Kris doesn’t like the masa in tamales and when you make them it’s a lot of work and you tend to have to make a lot of them.
Kris had the 4-taquito pack and I had the nacho dish, which had rice, beans and seasoned ground beef. Both did not disappoint – I had one of Kris’ taquitos.
But then so is In-and-Out and look how they’re doing. Still, there is plenty to go back for, especially when you consider there are six different sauces to try. Next time I want to try the protein bowl or the taco burger.
The decor is pretty wild, too.
And when I finished my order, the cashier said, “Thanks for Rollin’ in”, which I thought was clever.
Now I’m craving tamales.

“Well, there is one thing I can review, Crockpot Bread, https://www.facebook.com/EasyRecipesForFamily1/posts/pfbid0YWqUDnLQEV7gVFtU3WjMT3dnfmjosbMwpnPXz8NNCezNjGHrSsErtxVqkKAZpyGPl
Dennis had tried one other crockpot bread before, Two Ingredient Beer Bread. That one was quick bread, meaning it depended on baking soda to rise, not yeast. It tasted fine, but as expected it didn’t rise much. This one was a yeast bread, and as such was a real experiment. There was no rise time, so would it rise in the Crockpot as it warmed up? The answer was “no”.
It did taste good, worth making again. But next time, Dennis is going to let it rise in the crockpot an hour before turning it on.
Also, the bread doesn’t brown on the top like the picture indicates. Neither did the Beer Bread. But I’m afraid that’s due to the lack of surrounding heat.” – Vincent Reinhart
