Burbank Media Expo and Job Fair
Last Friday, August 1st, 2025, was the Second Annual Burbank Media Expo and Job Fair. It was held at Woodbury University in Burbank, just off the 5 freeway, South of the Empire Center, if you know the area. It was held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. So, I got to sleep in late and get home early on a Friday. I always appreciate little things like that.
I also appreciated the free parking and this being a free event.
There was one panel room and a workshop room.
Although panels and workshops seemed to switch between rooms, it was no big deal. I did attend the panel on Resume Essentials. I might need that if I’m up for a writing position in the future, but that would be way off. Right now, I’m trying to sell my work. That could possibility lead to a writing position, who knows, but I’d be open to it.
If it did, my resume of related work would be pretty blank. That kind of resume would be more of a list of books published and scripts sold, which right now is… ZERO. I’m still a wannabe writer.
There were many booths from the unions and trade associations. These ranged from stage hands, lighting, costuming and props. For anyone interested in getting into these production jobs, this was the place for them.

For me, there was nothing specific about writing, but there was a company offering free professional headshots. I took advantage of that first thing when I got there. Good thing I did, because there was a long line for headshots later. They were very quick and took several shots from different angles and positions. I’ve been wanting a head shot for the business cards I want to have made (It’s on my Goals List). I’ll post them as soon as they email them to me.
Next up is the International Christian Film Festival. It’s being held at my church, Calvary Bible Church, in Burbank https://www.calvarybiblechurch.org/ on Saturday, August 9th from 10:30 am to 4:30pm. https://www.calvarybiblechurch.org/events/event/967/icff/2025-08-09 I am a Christian and I’m a PG13 kind of writer. Whatever I write, it’s going to be family-friendly. And I do have some ideas on the back burner from some Christian stories that I will work on after I finish my Steampunk trilogy.
I have to attend – plus they might need some help in the kitchen.
