Cracking the Barrel
One of my goals this year is to go to four restaurants I’ve never been to. So far, I’ve gone to one, the Anime Cafe in Ventura Blvd. in Reseda. For years, I’ve been wanting to go to a Cracker Barrel. They’re a famous restaurant, but there haven’t been any out here. They are in the south and mid-west. But a couple of years ago, some opened up out this way; one in Las Vegas, in Santa Maria and the one we went to in the Camarillo Outlet Mall.
We were me there by two of our friends, Dave and Lisa. 
It’s a country-themed restaurant, much like the Apple Farm in San Luis Obispo, our favorite restaurant. They are famous for their rocking chairs out front, and their logo which they recently changed. The change caused an uproar among its fans, so they changed it back.
The décor is all vintage stuff and they have a pretty wide variety of food on their menu.
I’ve been collecting some of their copycat recipes for a while. For this visit, I had the Chicken Fried Steak with Bacon Mac and Cheese and Grits
and Kris had the Chicken Strips with Regular Mac and Cheese and Corn. Oh, and the lemonade was awesome. It had just a bit of pulp in it, which is the way I like it. 
We also had the Country Fried Pickles and Onion Petals for appetizers.
The food was worth the trip. It’s about 45 minutes from home, and the staff was very friendly. We will be going back when we want another nice evening out.
They are also known for their country store gift ship. Among their goods is a wide variety of spirality sodas and candy.
And they are already decked out for Christmas. 
We will also be returning to the Camarillo Outlet Mall in October when a Texas Roadhouse opens up. That’s another one I’ve been wanting to try, but the closest one we know of is in Perris, CA.

My friends got me this Lego Fries Truck (Foodie Adventures!).
And Kris got me the Lego Going Merry!
