Digitally Tired

Digitally Tired

This blog is going to be short. I’ve been at the Digital Authors and Indie Publishing virtual conference all weekend, and it will continue throughout the week in the evenings.  Here are some of the highlights so far:

Sat. 10:00am – THE FINE ART OF PITCHING TO AN AGENT OR PUBLISHER.  Can’t get enough of this now that I’m getting closer finishing my novel.

Sat. 11:30am – HOW TO CREATE A GREAT PODCAST.  I might do this again some day as an author.  Kris, our friends Kristin, Liz and I did one called, “The Corsair’s Closet.  It was picked up by Krypton Radio (now SciFi Radio) for a couple of years.

Sat. 12:45pm – THE P.O.E.M. METHOD OF BOOK MARKETING.  Really important.  When my book gets published, how do I promote it?  One subject was how to use one event on several media platforms and how to keep it working for you after the event.

Sat. 2:00pm – GOAL SETTING FOR WRITERS – HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THE CONFERENCE.  This was done by Debra Eckerling, the creator of the D.E.B. Method of goal setting.

Sun. 12:45pm – THE UNDERGROUND GUIDE TO “KILLING” IT WITH YOUR FIRST MEETING WITH A LITERARY AGENT.  This was put on by Art Holcomb.  Take any class you can with Art Holcomb.  “We’re not worthy!  We’re not worthy!”  It was a preview of a series of classes he will have starting later in the year.

Sun 2:00pm – BEYOND THE FIRST DRAFT – TECHNIQUES IN EDITING YOUR OWN WORK AND WHEN TO HIRE A PRO.  That’s what I am doing now.

Sun. 4:30pm – BEST PRACTICES FOR BOOK MARKETING.  Again, I’m going to need this.

Some highlights for the following week are:  HOW TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE AS A WRITER IN 2022 AND BEYOND, HOW TO PUBLICIZE YOU BOOK ON TV, PROMOTING YOUR BOOK IN A DIGITAL MARKETPLACE, and HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL VIRTUAL BOOK LAUNCH.

So far it’s been fun, educational and tiring.  Just made dinner, finished the blog.  Time for bed.

Good night, everybody,

Dennis

133rd blog completed.

First Steampunk novel:  72,193 words.  Need to expand to about 80,000 words.

First Steampunk screenplay:  Need to update with notes from the novelization.

Second Steampunk screenplay:  162 pages.  ß With the conference all week this is not going to change.

Second Steampunk novel: 0 words.

Third Steampunk screenplay:  38 pages.

Last week tried a new recipe for dinner, Cheesy Hamburger Casserole.  https://www.jugglingactmama.com/cheesy-hamburger-casserole/?fbclid=IwAR0b6FMqDr-nK5ICwxw77CFcAbKN3yn3EmCDXTkk6d4Axd5a6egCFLVqBJk

This was even cheesier than the Good Old-Fashioned Mac and Cheese from last week – and has meaty bits!  It made a lot and wonderfully so.  This is worth going back to for leftovers.  Two notes:  It called for a pound of elbow pasta, ¾ pounds probably would have done it.  It says to bake in an oven for ten minutes, but doesn’t say at what temperature.  350 degrees is a standard for casseroles and worked quite well.”  – Vincent Reinheart.

  1. Thanks for the kind words. Glad you are enjoying and adding to your Wealth of Knowledge.

Can you imagine how exhausting it is to produce this event, working 12 hours a day…
