Paneling

Paneling

Last week I mentioned that Kris and I are going to be the Fan Guests of Honor at the upcoming Loscon  http://loscon.org/47/  this Thanksgiving weekend.  As such, there are a number of events we will be partaking in.  We will be in one panel, a “meet the Fan Guests of Honor” kind of thing, both of us will be in the art show, and of course, we will be running the blood drive on Saturday.

We are also proposing some other panels we would like to do.  The programing department hasn’t gotten back to us on them yet, but here’s what we were thinking:

MARRIED TO A FAN.  Back in March 2020, we created a Facebook page, Married to a Fan.  The idea was that we would share pictures and stories of things we have done as married fans.  We also wanted other couples would share their experiences and stories.  Then the lockdown hit.  Now that cons are coming back online, hope other couples will post on this page.

GOT THE MUSIC IN ME – HOW INSPIRATION FOR STORIES CAN CME FROM MUSIC, A MEDITATION BASED ON THE PIECES THAT INSPIRE THE DRAGONFLY CHRONICLES.  This is mostly Kris’ panel.  Music inspires her for stories and scenes.  Me, I get inspired by lots of things, including music, but mostly I’m an “I just need quiet to write” kind of guy.

READINGS FROM THE DRAGONFLY TEMPLE CHRONICLES AND AN UPDATE ON OUR PATREON/STORY PUBLISHING PROGRESS.  Pretty much what it says.  I may read from the novel I’m working on, “The Thornrose Chronicles:  Matter of Fear” and a premiere of the book trailer for DTC – if we can get it shot & edited in time.

GIVING BACK TO SCIENCE FICTION.  We’ve been in many non-work organizations:  Start Trek fan clubs, Dr. Who fan clubs, conventions, my church.  It always seems that most of the work is done by about 20% of the members.  Things always run smoother when more people are involved.  If you have a passion for something, consider volunteering.  For us, it’s the blood drives.

The Programming Committee might also put us on other panels.  As a member and former Vice President of the Greater Los Angeles Writers Society, they may put me on some writing panels.  Who knows at this point, programming has not been finalized yet.  They know we’re open for anything except on Saturday.

Whatever they decide to put us on, we are looking forward to the convention.
